This Giving Tuesday we're sharing a two part story that is close to our hearts.
PART 1
Several years ago Marilee's son, Abram had a bone marrow transplant that took them out of state for treatment. For 6 months her family stayed at the Ronald McDonald home while receiving care. This experience was both humbling and incredibly inspiring.
Since that life changing (and life giving) experience, the Ronald Mcdonald House Charities has been a part of Gathre’s story. You can read about how in 2019 we launched our Padded Mats on Giving Tuesday and gave 100% of profits to the Ronald McDonald house here. Last year we outfitted our local Ronald McDonald Home with a playroom refresh as well as gifting every guest with a Gathre mat (totaling over $11,000 in donations).
This year we are excited to partner again with Ronald McDonald House Charities for Giving Tuesday. We are sending a Playmat to every RMHC Home (there are almost 200) in the United States to put in their play rooms for kids to enjoy as they go through such difficult times.
PART 2
You may be aware that Make-A-Wish grants patients facing life threatening diagnosis with a wish to make their dreams come true. Fast forward a few years after Marilee’s sons’ health journey and covid had subsided and their family was awarded a trip with Make-A-Wish to Disney World. Make-A-Wish treated them like royalty with character meetings, front line access, unlimited soft serve ice cream, and even a Tesla light show with almost 100 cars to Abram’s favorite song.
This Giving Tuesday we are also making a donation to Make-A-Wish to help pay it forward so the next family may enjoy a bright spot after their long health challenges.
Thank you for supporting Gathre. Without your continued involvement in our brand, we would not be able to give back in these personal, meaningful ways. So thank you and we hope this inspires you to give back in your own community in ways that matter to you.
XO,
mare + jess
