Underwhelmed
I needed a bigger picnic blanket and thought this was the best of the best, but am extremely underwhelmed. Firstly, the box it came in was extremely damaged, completely ripped up and it didn’t even hold the mat. Not fun or pleasing to open and can’t use it for storage and definitely couldn’t gift. The shipping box was fine so I’m guessing it was packaged and sent to me like that. The mat itself has uneven edges and weird stitching patterns in some places, and all the way around little loose looking threads making it look cheaply made. Paid extra for double sided but one side is very clearly the “back” and looks it. And I’m not sure if it’s bc both sides are the leather but it’s extremely hard to handle. It doesn’t fold up nice or stay folded at all, super heavy and just difficult to carry, seems to unfold and slip open whenever being carried. Overall almost impossible to use with kids and looks much cheaper than it was.

The double sided mats take Gathre mats to a whole new level. We have one for the beach, one for the backyard, one for the car. Can't recommend them enough.
Good for everything!
I take this mat to the park, beach, water park and about everywhere in between. It’s very easy to clean and carry which is nice with kids. It also has been cute for my kids to sit on in pictures. It’s very large, so for picnics, my 6’5” husband, myself and our 3 little kids have plenty of room.

My Rainy Climate Go-to
We live up in the PNW, which means the ground is often pretty wet. The double sided mat has allowed us to still go outside even in wet weather. We recently also took it to Cancun with us to use on the beach and it was so easy to clean. Attached is a picture of my baby at family photos. I love that the two colors both are neutral and will work with different styles of family photos. It is worth the investment!
